About Lisa
Helping people move well.
For life.
For more than 40 years, I've been helping people build strength, improve their confidence, and discover that movement can be both enjoyable and life-changing.
My fitness career began in 1981 when my sisters and I opened one of Sydney's first boutique aerobics studios. What started as a shared passion for health and fitness grew into the Rancan Sisters brand, with studios across Sydney and a reputation for creating welcoming, community-focused spaces where people loved to exercise.
My own perspective on movement changed after suffering stress fractures in my back during the 1980s. Pilates became a key part of my rehabilitation and completely transformed the way I understood the body. It didn't just help me recover, it gave me a new purpose.
I've been teaching Pilates since 1998, helping people of all ages and fitness levels improve strength, mobility, balance, and confidence through safe, effective movement. Whether you're stepping onto a reformer for the very first time or looking to challenge yourself, my goal has always remained the same:
To help you move well. For life.
Today, Lisa Rancan Fitness has evolved from a broad offering of group fitness experiences, to a more focused approach centred around Pilates. Alongside Reformer Pilates, the much-loved Boot Scootin' classes bring another fun and social way to stay active. I'm proud to have my sister Adele sharing her passion for line dancing as part of the Boot Scootin' experience, giving our community even more opportunities to move, connect, and have fun.
Over the decades, we helped introduce Australians to new fitness trends, appeared regularly on national television, including Good Morning Australia, and inspired thousands of people to embrace an active lifestyle. Fitness has changed enormously over the years, and I've loved evolving alongside it while always keeping people at the heart of everything I do.
